Designed for Realistic Foliage

The WarFront bocage models are designed to be 3D printed as a structural base, then finished with clump foliage to create dense natural looking hedgerows. During development, we experimented with fully modelling the foliage directly into the 3D prints but the results lacked the organic variation needed for convincing terrain and increased print times significantly.

Using clump foliage produces a far more realistic appearance, with natural depth, randomness, and texture that printed geometry alone struggles to replicate. By combining 3D printing with traditional terrain making techniques, a wide variety of unique, natural-looking bocage pieces can be created quickly and easily.

Built-In Variation

The bocage range includes a variety of section types designed to allow you to create interesting and varied hedgerow lines. Alongside the standard 6 inch straight section, additional variants include a section with a damaged wall, a section with a gated wall, sections to accommodate larger tree growth, and broken gaps where the bocage has been pushed aside by vehicles or destroyed during battle.

These variations help break up long hedgerow runs, introducing natural points of interest across the battlefield while also adding tactical depth. Gated sections provide access for infantry units, while broken gaps create choke points for vehicles and artillery.

Articulated Sections

To support curved layouts, the bocage range includes a set of articulated sections that can be curved to follow bends and irregular terrain. These are available in 3 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch, and inch lengths, providing flexibility when building both subtle curves and more pronounced turns.

Rather than requiring multiple fixed-radius pieces for inner and outer curves, the articulated design allows each section to adapt to a wide range of layouts. This keeps the system simple while dramatically increasing flexibility.

The result is a versatile bocage system that can create flowing hedgerow lines without needing a large number of specialised parts.

Seamless Road Integration

Each articulated bocage section has been designed alongside the WarFront roads system to allow continuous hedgerow lines that naturally follow complex, organic road layouts.

Rather than creating countless pieces for every inner and outer radius, the articulated sections are carefully sized to cover each road segment with minimal gaps. This design ensures bocage sits perfectly along the roads, creating smooth, visually striking layouts that feel natural and intentional.
