Realistic Foliage

As with the Bocage model range, we wanted the WarFront trees to look realistic and natural. As such, we decided to concentrate on 3D printing the main tree structure and branches, then finish each tree with clump foliage.

This creates a natural-looking tree canopy with depth, texture and variation and looks great on the tabletop.

Print & Assemble

Each tree is made up of a base and trunk, with the branches printed separately for assembly afterwards. The trunk features a series of push-fit sockets, with each branch having a matching connector that allows it to be quickly and securely attached. Once assembled, a small drop of superglue locks each branch firmly in place.

This approach solves one of the biggest challenges we faced when developing the trees. Printing a complete tree as a single piece required a huge amount of support material, making the models slow to print, wasteful and difficult to clean up.

By separating the branches from the trunk, each part can be printed in the most efficient orientation possible. The result is a tree range that is quick and easy to print, simple to assemble, and still produces the detailed, natural-looking trees we were aiming for.

Three Different Sizes

The WarFront tree range is available in three different sizes: small, medium and large, measuring approximately 3, 4 and 5 inches in height.

The small trees are designed to work alongside the Bocage with Tree Space model, allowing trees to be easily incorporated into existing hedgerows. The medium and large trees provide greater scale for creating larger areas of woodland, while the tallest trees can rise above buildings and other terrain to add depth and variety to the battlefield.

Natural Variation

To help create a more natural-looking woodland, each tree size is available in four different variants. These variants use different combinations of trunk and branch parts, giving each tree its own shape and character.

With four variants across each of the three size ranges, the complete WarFront tree range includes 12 different tree designs. Combined with the variation created by using different clump foliage, you can mix and match the trees to create a varied and natural-looking forest.
